Fire Water DO Mix When It Comes to Landscape Design

When it comes to outdoor landscape design, one thing is for certain, mixing fire and water features is growing in interest these days. According to an article stating that the 2011 American Society of Landscape Architects Residential Trends Survey shows a adding both fire and water to landscape design as a hot trend.

The article describes that homeowners are interested in natural feeling and looking fountains, ponds and streams that add a touch of nature and soothing to their backyards. People are more interested in the zen aspects of the sound of a bubbling brook or waterfall in their backyard entertaining spaces. Granite and limestone are popular as you can drill them out to install a self-contained water pump that recirculates up through the stone and trickles down the sides for easy maintenance.

Adding a fire pit, fire bowl or outdoor fireplace is also a hot trend because it adds warmth and contrast to your landscape design. It also allows you and your guests to extend the day into the night while staying warm and the natural glow of a fire pit is a relaxing way to enjoy conversation with company.
